1.0 Project: The Physical Collage

Our professor first instructed us to get ideas from Pinterest. Many others used magazines for materials, but I didn't have any, and Mr. Fauzi said it was fine to print. As a result, I went back to Pinterest and selected items that I want to use.

I used an A4 sized wooden board as the base for this project. Unfortunately, I didn't have much behind the scenes image.

I have this idea of wanting to show and express the beauty in both life and death. They can't exist without one another. Hence, the inspiration of this collage. The quote in the image states "Death is the mother of beauty, from her

The concept for this art comes from the thought of someone trapped in a place who wishes to be free, to travel to another world, to use their imagination.

After submission, Mr. Fauzi said that I could use the raccoon collage for my final. For this piece, I just thought that it's funny and cute.

I used 3D foam tape from Mr. DIY to add depth to the artwork.

2.0 Project: The Digital Collage

Fig 2.1 Digital Collage 1

When I am making this, I though that a simple minimalistic look would be cool. I first used the pen tool and masked the building, next, I used the selection tool and masked the blue fish. The balance out the piece, I added the rectangle texture to the back.

I started out by using the the quick selection tool and masked the plant, then duplicating layer (Ctrl + J). After, I flipped the image and placed them against it. Later, I inputted the MRT and elevator images and made them  upside down. Lastly, I noticed that the plants look odd so I used the brush tool and made a circle, duplicated it and placed it behind the plant.

For this I decided that I wanted the type writer to be the main focus of the whole collage. So, with the magical wand tool I started to mask the typewriter. Then I used the same blue fish and masked the background. Next I added the black and white textured background. Finally, to accentuate the typewriter, I cropped a circle from the texture image provided with the Elliptical Marquee Tool.
